The Degree Committee of China Government has approved the joint MD/OD program be tween W.M.C. and NEWENCO
The Degree Committee of P.R.China has released the document (Degree Committee No .［2000］35),and approved the joint MD/OD program between Wenzhou Medical Coll e ge (W.M.C.) and NEWENCO. Through partnership of NEWENCO and W.M.C., this program aims to educate the highest quality of optometry doctors in China. The program will result in graduates being granted dual degrees; the O.D.,(Doctor Degree of Optometry, granted by the NEWENCO), and the M.D., (Medical Doctor granted by the Wenzhou Medical College). The graduates, recognized both in the U.S. and in Chi na, will serve as the leaders within academic optometry and the profession in Ch ina. The students, who have successfully completed the Bachelor of Med icine degree and have passed China's national Entrance Exam for the Master degre e, may be qualified for admission into this program. The program is being design ed to enroll 5～10 students a year during the initial phase of implementation, a nd divided by two stages. In the first stage, it takes three years at Wenzhou Me dical College, and one to two years at NEWENCO in the second stage.
